The Story

I was raised in a small town in Oklahoma.  Our family was very involved in church and I always tried to be a good person.  At age 7, I made a decision at Vacation Bible School to make Jesus my Savior; however, I did not truly understand.  I thought believing in God and trying to be a good person was enough to go to Heaven, but I didn’t truly grasp the message of the cross.   When I was 17, I began hearing God speak to me in a new way and realized I had never made Jesus Lord of my life.  While at Falls Creek after my Senior year of High School, I finally understood that I needed to surrender my life to Christ and I made Jesus my Savior AND Lord.

The Calling

After surrendering to Christ, God placed a burden on my heart for missions.  I went on several mission trips throughout the US and overseas and God opened my heart and eyes to His bigger plan for my life.  Upon graduating from Oklahoma State University, I packed my suitcase and moved to Thailand to work as a missionary for 2 years.  I thought I was going there to help others, but God used that time to teach me and grow my faith. When I returned to Oklahoma, God taught me that missions doesn’t have to be overseas – it is wherever you are planted.  So, my next mission field was a 2nd grade classroom in Putnam City for 5 years.  God showed me the needs of families and children in the Oklahoma City area and how desperately they need the love of Christ.

The Now

I married my best friend, Sebastian, in 2014 and life has been an exciting journey ever since!   We have two beautiful daughters, Alivia and Sloane, and I love watching them grow into the beautiful young girls God designed them to be.  God is truly busy at work in our family!  My husband surrendered to Christ in 2017 and soon after, surrendered to the call of ministry.  He has since begun seminary while still working at his job.  During the same time God called my husband to ministry, God showed me that my family is my first and most important ministry.  I decided to leave teaching and stay home with our daughters full time.   God also opened a door for me to continue to show the love of Christ to families and children in our community by serving as the Assistant Children’s Director at our church.  It is so exciting to see what God is doing in the Sonshine Kids children’s department!
